Speak up

Go out and speak up, you are the best at

Shake off the jitters, they are like frosting

Cool are you, relaxed are you

Always smiling, happy are you

Most satisfied are you, of serving a purpose

After a round of speaking and teaching

Place Review: Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, Mysuru

Place Reference: Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, Mysuru https://maps.app.goo.gl/iooqefBaaYJ48Nk68

Place Review: The Mysuru Zoo is one of the cleanest ones you’ll see in the country. The animals are always seen in a hygienic environ. And you have a large variety of them including Gorillas and Giraffes which are hard to find in most zoos. Children will have a memorable time although the zoo lacks a safari ride. They have golf Cart rides but these have long wait times so that part needs to be maintained better. Walking through it’ll take at least 2 hours so please plan that much time.

Place Review: Lokaranjan Aqua World Underwater Zoo, Mysuru

Place Reference: Lokaranjan Aqua World Underwater Zoo https://maps.app.goo.gl/CzE8jBMNpmeU8zLEA

Place Review: This is the best example of a good concept that is poorly executed. The aquarium in Mysuru is a good concept. The exterior view of a huge fish is attractive. There are big statues of a gorilla or horses that you can pose and take pictures with. The location in the middle of the city is also great.
Parking could be better managed but they have made arrangements in a nearby amusement park and you might probably get parking there. But the aquarium guys need to put directions for alternate parking.
Once you enter the place though you will be overall disappointed with the cleanliness. It’s poorly maintained. They have an underwater walkway, but if you’ve experienced the same abroad or even in Mahabalipuram you’ll see the difference.
The best spot perhaps is where you can feed fish. But here you’ll see hundreds of the fish struggling in shallow water fighting for the feed that people through. I’m sure many of the fish are getting injured or dying and it’s very cruel.
Overall while ok for a one time visit I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Place Review: Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Ashrama – Avadhoota Datta Peetham – Mysuru

Place Reference: Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Ashrama – Avadhoota Datta Peetham – Mysuru https://maps.app.goo.gl/wGEaTwZyNKchdoZ76

Place Review: This place is a must visit place if you are travelling with children to Mysuru.
It’s a sprawling location with the bird zoo the most attractive feature. For a small fee you get to have the experience of feeding birds while they are perched on you. The zoo also has multiple varieties of birds to view and learn about. Those interested can also have family pics taken with the birds perched on your hands which can be a worthy addition to your photo collection.
The other attractions are the Hanumanji temple within the ashram campus.  There is also a Japanese bonsai garden which is well maintained.
You also have a museum within the premises which although is less visited but rich in the collections held within.
There are also eateries and ice shops within. Children can even enjoy horse tonga rides
Please plan at least 3 hours in hand when visiting the ashram. You will have a memorable visit!

Place Review: Treebo Trend Akshaya Mahal Inn – Hotel in Mysore

Place Reference: Treebo Trend Akshaya Mahal Inn – Hotel in Mysore https://maps.app.goo.gl/xPfvUx2tFioKQFHo9

Place Review: We had a great stay in Treebo. The place is a great, great value for money. Gated and safe. Security available all the time. Parking is within the premises in the basement, but a bit cramped. However security is always available to help.
The location is awesome, not crowded but very much in the vicinity of all places to see in Mysuru.
Rooms are spacious, have a good luxury feel, clean and have a good view.
Breakfast is complimentary. Lunch and dinner and room service are available. Breakfast spread and taste are excellent.
There is a mall at a walkable distance and you can spend a good amount of time in the evening shopping and having a dinner there.
In summary, Location, Hygiene and Service are all excellent!

Film Review: Mukham (1990)

Film Reference: Mukham (1990) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0278577/?ref_=ext_shr

Film Review: This is a Malayalam language film starring Mohanlal, Renjini and Naseer in pivotal roles.

The film has a good premise – a police officer investigating a serial killer who is an excellent sniper, with a twist on who it actually turns out to be. But the film is created crudely by involving the police officer’s wife into an incredulous blackmail scheme. Add to that the dark theme running in the film overall makes it a dull watch – why did the director / cinematographer think that people watching in theatres would enjoy watching a dull, dark screen throughout. Top that with the fact that the film is very slow moving. I wouldn’t be surprised if some fell asleep in the theatres. The motivation of the killer is equally unconvincing. Just as the overall film itself.

A plain waste of a talented main cast…

Place Review: Shri Chennakeshava Swamy Temple (Somanathapura)

Place Reference: Shri Chennakeshava Swamy Temple (Somanathapura) https://maps.app.goo.gl/jn3eeG9PxEgW9StZ6

Place Review: This is a temple dedicated to Shri Chennakeshava (handsome Keshava – another name of Vishnu – in Kannada).
The temple has a wonderful Hoysala architecture  but is still in ruins being in the hands of UNESCO. So it’s only a painful reminder of Mughal invasions when you visit such places. Instead if it were handed over to devotees, the place can be revamped while keeping the original structure intact. That will be a much greater reconciliation to forget wounds of the past.
The temple is located on a detour on your way from Bengaluru to Mysuru. I would highly recommend a visit, it doesn’t take a long time to see around the place. There are approved guides available but their charges are too high considering the small area.

Place Review: Shivalli Restaurant, Mysuru Expressway

Place Reference: Shivalli Restaurant https://maps.app.goo.gl/wKagmc2vr6gczE8p9

Place Review: This is a vegetarian restaurant popular as a breakfast place on your way towards Mysuru from Bengaluru.
Very less parking. You have to park on the street curb side. However due to minimal exits on Mysuru Expressway this place is very crowded. Hence it’s hard to manage parking.
Service is pathetic. They don’t manage the rush properly. It’s a free for all where you get place and sit. No order is maintained and waiters ignore your requests for help.
Place is spacious. That’s the only USP.
Food is good, but nothing great to stand out. So I would say there is room for competition to come up. I would suggest travellers to avoid this place and visit a better place at some other exit.

Place Review: New Classic Salon and Spa, Junnasandra

Place Reference: New Classic Salon and Spa, Junnasandra https://maps.app.goo.gl/mndScRzSxfQzZEdX9

Place Review: While this is area wise a large space, they need to improve on the customer courtesy and rapport part. They have to learn to be patient with children and not speak harshly. In this context I like the New Classic franchisee opposite Jain Heights instead.
Needless to say, my children refused to go here the next time.
